World Laughter Monument

The opus millenium is an audio artwork.
31 december 1999, timezone by timezone, towards the moment of birth of the new millenium at 24.00 hours, laughter was locally recorded and sent by the internet to Paradiso Amsterdam to be created into a great composition.

1 januari 2000, 10 o'clock GMT, this laughtercomposition was simultaniously broadcasted by 70 radiostations worldwide into space where all the laughs like building stones created the World Laughter monument.

You are invited to participate in creating a global artwork. The universal language is laughter. Your giggle together with laughs and roars of others are the buildingstones of this artwork. This material, simultaneously broadcasted and interlinked in space, will build the World Laughter Monument around the world to welcome the new millenium. Join this media project which is an interaction between a worldwide network of broadcasters and millions of responding people.
